Marisol Barrero, MS, CPE

Marisol Barrero is a seasoned ergonomics professional with over 20 years of experience. She has led corporate ergonomics programs at Toyota, Amazon Web Services, and Vibrantz Technologies.  She has consulted with multiple, diverse customers through her consultant and technical director roles at Liberty Mutual, Humantech, and Mitsui Sumitomo.  In 2025 Marisol established her own consultancy, Ergo Forward.

Marisol’s passion for innovation led her to form Toyota’s Safety Innovations team, focusing on emerging technologies like wearables and AI for workplace safety. She co-founded the Automotive Exoskeleton Group (AExG), serves on the boards of the Wearable Robotics Association (WearRA) and AExG, and has held advisory roles with the National Ergonomics Conference and the Applied Ergonomics Conference, currently Co-Chairing the Ergo Cup Committee.

She has delivered over 50 presentations and workshops, including 3 keynotes, and served on standards committees, ASTM F48 (Exoskeletons and Exosuits) and ANSI B11.TR1 – Technical Report for Machines – Ergonomic Guidelines for Design, Installation, and Use.

Marisol holds her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Cornell University. She has been a Certified Professional Ergonomist since 2006.
