Carol Stuart-Buttle, MS, CPE

Executive Director

Carol Stuart-Buttle has been consulting to industry since 1987, when she formed Stuart-Buttle Ergonomics. In 2012 she reduced her consulting hours when she assumed the position of part-time Executive Director of BCPE. Carol was previously a Director on the BCPE Board for 8 years (1996-2004). She has served on the Executive Council of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) twice, including the office of Treasurer; held office in the Ergonomics Committee of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA); held office in chapters of AIHA and American Society of Safety Professionals; and was Editor in Chief of the HFES applied, peer-reviewed quarterly Ergonomics in Design for 6 years. She has published extensively in national and international journals and handbooks. As Executive Director, Carol brings to BCPE her broad experience as a practitioner for more than 30 years, and as a leading professional with connections to the International Ergonomics Association; in the UK as a Member of the Professional Register of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors; as a Fellow of HFES; and a Fellow of AIHA. Carol has a BSc in Ergonomics and Sociology (Combined Honors) from Aston University in UK and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania.
